Rescue From Without

"...Shiva encouraged Dasaratha to go down to the earth and meet Rama...Rama was overjoyed to see him again and prostrated himself at his feet. Dasaratha said...'But before I go I want you to ask of me something, anything, any wish I could fulfill for you," (164).
 

This is rescue from without because it provides Rama with the assurance that the journey he embarked on was the correct path. His father is a higher power descending to console Rama, and remove all doubts he had about past decisions. The fact that Dasaratha is granting Rama one last request even further symbolizes the end of the journey.​​
